R47 Custom Order

This is a custom order that allows you to choose the material and color of the main body of the R47 backpack as well as the colors of each component to create your preferred color combination. For detailed specifications, please see here.

Production begins after the order is confirmed (payment completed). The estimated shipping time is about 10 business days after the order is confirmed, excluding weekends and Japanese holidays.

① Main Body

Choose the material and color of the main body of the R47. Available materials may change depending on stock availability.

X-Pac VX21

A technical outdoor fabric developed from sailcloth used in harsh environments. It is a four-layer laminate consisting of a 210D nylon face fabric, an X-ply reinforcement grid, a polyester film for bonding, and a 50D polyester backing.

The fabric has a firm structure and stiffness. It gradually becomes more flexible with use. The surface has a matte finish without gloss.

Bag characteristics: Because the fabric is stiff, wrinkles may occur during the manufacturing process. They become less noticeable with use but will not completely disappear. The firmness helps the backpack maintain a clean silhouette and makes it easy to use. It is also highly durable and suitable for tough use.

ECOPAK EPX200

A 100% recycled polyester fabric. Compared to conventional materials, it can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 500 g per meter of fabric. It has a three-layer construction consisting of a 200D face fabric, a reinforcement grid, and a 70D ripstop backing. The surface has a slight sheen and a soft feel.

Bag characteristics: Because the fabric is flexible, finished products tend to have fewer wrinkles. The silhouette is slightly softer than X-Pac but still clean. It feels softer against the body and is slightly lighter than the X-Pac version.

 

② Top

Choose the material and color of the top section of the backpack. We use either CORDURA RIP or X-Gridstop, both of which allow the drawcord to slide smoothly when tightened.

*Light colors such as white may be slightly transparent.

X-Gridstop

A nylon fabric (200D–210D) reinforced with a polyethylene grid. There are various versions such as Dyneema, Spectra, Tsunooga, and unbranded variations, but since their performance is nearly identical, we collectively refer to them as X-Gridstop.

It is soft yet strong and has long been used by many outdoor brands. Since the back side is coated with polyurethane, hydrolysis may eventually occur and cause stickiness. However, air-drying after use and proper storage can delay this process.

CORDURA RIP

A nylon ripstop fabric coated with silicone on the front and polyurethane on the back. It offers excellent water resistance and stain resistance, with a slightly translucent appearance. Lightweight yet strong.

 

③ Front Pocket

The front pocket can be selected in mesh or X-Gridstop in various colors.

Mesh provides excellent visibility and makes it easy to see and access items inside. However, if you do not use a backpack cover in rainy conditions, the contents may get wet, so waterproof protection is recommended.

With X-Gridstop, the contents are visually protected from the outside. When using optional straps, it also reduces interference from attached gear inside the pocket. It is also less likely to collect snow.

 

④ Long Pocket

Choose the color of the long pocket. The material is X-Gridstop.

 

⑤ Pocket Position

On the standard model, the long pocket is on the left side and the mesh short pocket is on the right side when viewed from the front.

The opposite side of the long pocket will have a mesh short pocket. The short pocket is convenient for frequently used items such as water bottles, allowing you to access them without removing the backpack.

You can choose the pocket position according to your dominant hand.

 

⑥ Back Panel Stitching

Choose the stitching color of the back panel from black or rainbow.

The standard model uses rainbow stitching as a small detail that lifts your mood when you take off the backpack during a break. If you prefer a simpler look, black is also available.

 

⑦ Top Drawcord

Choose the color of the top drawcord.

We use a firm 2 mm (0.08 in) cord that is resistant to tangling and easy to handle.

 

⑧ Optional Straps

Optional straps (sold separately) can be attached to the four loops where reflective cord is threaded. This allows you to attach gear such as snowshoes or traditional Japanese snowshoes (Wakan) to the backpack.

• Maximum length: 520 mm (20.5 in)
• Vertical spacing between straps: 125 mm (4.9 in)

These are 25 mm nylon straps compatible with the R47. Sold as a set of two.

 

Care

After use, please air-dry the backpack in the shade. Minor dirt can be wiped off with a damp cloth. If heavily soiled or if odors develop, remove the back pad and gently wash the bag in lukewarm water. After washing, drain thoroughly and air-dry in the shade.

Over time, fabrics may degrade due to hydrolysis. High humidity can accelerate this process. When not in use, store the backpack in a well-ventilated place and occasionally air-dry it to extend its lifespan.
